The short answer

The Vitality Stadium has no helicopter landing site, so for AFC Bournemouth home games we fly you to Bournemouth Airport, which is open until 01:00 as published, and a chauffeur car takes you on to Dean Court. Is there a helicopter landing site near the Vitality Stadium?

Not at the stadium itself. Dean Court sits in Kings Park, a residential and parkland area of Bournemouth, and there is no helicopter landing site we can offer at the ground. The nearest suitable licensed site is Bournemouth Airport at Hurn, a jet-capable airport with a 2,272 metre runway, prior permission required for every movement and compulsory ground handling. It is about a mile west of the A338, so the road to the ground is straightforward.

Charter-A Helicopter is the helicopter charter service of Charter-A Ltd, which has arranged private flights across the UK and Europe since 2011. For helicopter charter AFC Bournemouth bookings, our plan is always the same: land at the airport, meet the car, be at the ground in good time. See our Bournemouth airport page for the site facts.

Why does the airport's late closing time matter?

It makes the return leg easier. As published, Bournemouth Airport runs from 06:15 to 01:00 local every day, with customs, handling and fuel on the same hours, and out-of-hours movements by arrangement with the duty manager. Compare that with a small airfield that closes at 18:00 or at sunset: an evening kick-off or a long post-match dinner will not trap your party on the wrong side of a closing time.

Fixture dates and kick-off times are set by the league and broadcasters, often with only weeks of notice, so please check the club for dates. We can hold a helicopter provisionally and confirm the hours with the airport once the date is fixed.

How long does the journey take from London, Southampton or the Midlands?

From central London to Bournemouth Airport, the flight takes about 35 to 45 minutes by helicopter and around 2 hours 7 minutes by road, free-flowing. From Southampton Airport, 20.9 nautical miles away, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes against around 38 minutes by road, which is handy for guests staying on the coast; see helicopter charter Southampton. Goodwood, in West Sussex, is about 25 to 30 minutes away by helicopter; see Goodwood. From Birmingham it takes about 45 to 60 minutes, against around 3 hours by road.

For a party from the capital the day usually runs: depart late morning, land at Hurn, car to a lunch near the ground and then the match. Arrive 10 minutes before take-off, give us a weight for each passenger and pack soft bags. The route page for London shows the main departure sites.

What about private sites close to the ground?

The previous version of this page named the Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth, about 1.9 miles from the ground, and the Knoll House Hotel at Studland, about 7.9 miles away. Those are private sites. Landing at any of them is subject to landing permission and site suitability, and the owner decides. We will ask on your behalf, but we do not promise a result.

Chewton Glen, further west in the New Forest, is a different case; it is a country-house hotel that features in its own right, with a page at helicopter charter Chewton Glen. For the wider picture, see helicopter charter on the south coast, football by helicopter and the corporate days out hub.

For the car, we use Executive Global Travel. For price guidance, the price guides explain what drives a figure.
