Polo by helicopter

Polo grounds are set in big parkland, and the best days are long ones with lunch and a late finish. A helicopter gets your guests to the touchline in good time and home again without the evening car park.

The short answer

Helicopter charter to polo flies a group of up to eight from a nearby heliport or airfield to a club such as Guards or Cowdray Park, or to a landing close by. Landing at a club is arranged in advance with the club, subject to landing permission and site suitability, and 2027 fixtures are not yet published.

Which polo club or tournament?

Polo by helicopter works best as a long, relaxed client day, with the aircraft doing the awkward parts.

Choose by the type of day. High-goal tournaments suit large corporate parties; club matches suit a small group of clients; the smaller clubs often welcome a landing in a field close to the ground.

Guards Polo Club

Guards Polo Club is in Windsor Great Park in Berkshire and is one of the best-known clubs in the country. Its season typically runs from April to mid-September, and its main tournaments, including the Queen's Cup, are in June. Cartier International Day usually takes place at the end of July. We have not been given 2027 dates, so check with the club before you book. Ascot's heliport is a few miles away, and our Ascot page describes what a landing near Windsor and Ascot involves in practice.

Cowdray Park Polo Club

Cowdray Park, near Midhurst in West Sussex, is famous for its Gold Cup. The club's 2026 season ran from 18 April to 20 September, with the Gold Cup final on 19 July 2026; 2027 dates had not been published when we checked. Goodwood aerodrome is in the same corner of West Sussex, so our Goodwood pages and Goodwood charter page give a nearby landing option when the club cannot take a helicopter on a match day.

Other clubs we fly to

Our clients have flown to Ascot Park, Beverley, Cambridge and Newmarket, Cirencester Park, Coworth Park, Edinburgh, Epsom, Ham, Inglesham, Kirtlington Park, Taunton Vale, Tidworth, Toulston, Bristol, White Rose, Woolmers Park and York University polo clubs, among others. Each one has its own rules for landing, so we ask first.

How a polo day runs

Polo days are slow and sociable, so the helicopter is there to give you more of the day. The timeline below is typical for a client day.

  1. Late morning: your guests arrive at the departure site 10 minutes before take-off. For central London that is Battersea; for the south coast it is often Goodwood or Southampton.
  2. Flight: typically 15 to 40 minutes, depending on the club. Battersea to Ascot is about 15 to 20 minutes; Battersea to Goodwood about 25 to 30 minutes.
  3. Arrival before lunch: a short walk or a car to the marquee.
  4. The match: the helicopter waits at the landing site or repositions.
  5. After the final chukka: presentations, then a departure time that suits daylight and the club's own movements.

For central London departures read our guide on London helicopter transfers and the Battersea pages at Battersea Helicopter.

Hospitality and the corporate angle

Polo is a natural client-entertainment day: the format is relaxed, the surroundings are private and conversation is easy. The main constraint is the ground. Most clubs do not run a public helipad, so a landing needs the club's agreement and a suitable field, and we confirm it with the club as part of your booking. Where the club cannot accept a helicopter, we land at a nearby heliport or airfield and arrange a car.

Corporate groups usually book one of three formats: a single helicopter for four to eight guests, several helicopters for a client party, or a flight to a tournament final. Our Leonardo AW139, Agusta 109 Grand and H145 D3 pages describe the cabins.

If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing. For cost guidance, see the helicopter hire price guides. Return to the events hub or read about horse racing by helicopter if your guests like to mix their sport.

Frequently asked questions

Can a helicopter land at Guards Polo Club?

It depends on the club's rules on the day. A landing is arranged with the club in advance, subject to landing permission and site suitability. If the club cannot accept one, we land nearby, for example at the heliport at Ascot, and arrange a car.

When are the 2027 polo dates?

The clubs had not published their 2027 fixtures when we checked. Most seasons run from spring to mid-September, with the main tournaments in June and July. Check with the club before you book.

How long does the flight to a polo match take?

From central London, Ascot is about 15 to 20 minutes and Goodwood about 25 to 30 minutes by helicopter. Other clubs vary with the distance.

Can the helicopter wait for us?

Yes at most sites, or it repositions and returns at the agreed time. We confirm which with the club when we arrange the landing.

Which polo clubs do you fly to?

Guards, Cowdray Park, Cirencester Park, Coworth Park and many more. Tell us where you want to be and we confirm the landing.

Is it suitable for a corporate group?

Yes. Polo suits client entertainment and incentive days. We fly up to eight passengers in one helicopter and use several for larger parties.
