Can a helicopter land at the Principality Stadium?
No. Helicopter charter to the Principality Stadium is a flight to Cardiff Heliport and a car. The stadium is in the city centre, beside the river and the main station, so there is no landing site at the ground. The city heliport in Cardiff Bay is about two miles away, with a lounge, a VIP lounge and a conference room, open 09:00 to 18:00 every day (17:00 in winter). Every movement needs prior permission, which we book. It is not a designated customs port.
Charter-A Helicopter is the helicopter charter service of Charter-A Ltd, which has arranged private flights across the UK and Europe since 2011. A match-day plan has to finish before the heliport closes at 18:00 in summer or 17:00 in winter, which matters for evening kick-offs. For those we arrange the return from Cardiff Airport at Rhoose, which is open 24 hours, or an overnight stay. See helicopter charter Cardiff.

Helicopter figures are typical block times: distance at 135 knots plus 8 minutes, shown as a range. Road figures are free-flowing road times, a floor that real journeys rarely beat. Distances are in a straight line. Figures from our UK route data, checked 29 Sep 2026.
Times to Cardiff
From the heliport, Bristol is about 15 minutes by helicopter against at least 1 hour 10 minutes by road, Cheltenham 25 to 35 against 1 hour 28 and Oxford 35 to 45 against 2 hours 19. From Bristol Airport and Birmingham, see Bristol to Cardiff, Birmingham to Cardiff and London to Cardiff. Those figures come from our route data and the road times are free-flowing floors that a match day will exceed.

Match days and event days
The stadium hosts the Six Nations rugby in February and March, the autumn internationals, cup finals and concerts. Tickets and hospitality are arranged through the stadium and the unions; we arrange the travel. Match-day hospitality guests value a fixed route in and out, and the helicopter and car combination removes the main uncertainty, which is the road.
Guests flying in for a day should take the schedule seriously: the heliport closes at 18:00, the crowd leaves the stadium together and the cars queue. We build in a margin and tell you the latest departure. For other stadium days, see Wembley, Twickenham and football by helicopter.
Planning notes
Arrive 10 minutes before departure and keep bags soft. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, you pay nothing.
Executive Global Travel can arrange cars at both ends. See the Wales region page and the airfield directory for more sites.
